All workshops will be held in Fralin Auditorium, located on West Campus Drive across from Hillcrest Hall.

Use of ePortfolios

Workshop 3 – Using Assessment Results to Improve Teaching and Learning
Offered on February 19 (3 - 5 p.m.) and on February 20 (10 a.m. - noon)
Sharing results with colleagues and discussing implications
Closing the loop
Identifying areas of weakness and areas needing improvement
Developing a plan for addressing any areas needing improvement
Starting the process all over again

- Rubrics for Teaching, Learning, and Assessment
Offered on February 28, 10 a.m. - noon
This workshop will explain how to construct and use a rubric, an assessment tool that you can use to save grading time, convey effective feedback, and promote student learning.
- Using Focus Groups
Offered on March 12, 3 - 5 p.m.
This workshop is designed to present the basics of organizing and conducting a focus group to
collect qualitative information. Topics discussed will include setting, framing of questions,
collection and analysis of data
- Effective Survey Design
Ofered on March 13, 3 - 5 p.m.
This workshop is designed to introduce the participant to elements of effective survey design. Construction of items, ordering of questions, and analysis of responses will be among the topics discussed.
- Program Assessment Using ePortfolios
Offered on March 19, 10 a.m. - noon
This workshop will present Virginia Tech's ePortfolio system as a web-based, interactive tool to assist programs and departments with self-studies, student learning outcomes assessment, and accreditation. This short course will focus on the process of using student work as a basis for program assessment and improvement.
